Lana Juanita Cooper, 86, of Pittsburg, Kan., formerly of Sheldon, Mo., died at 9:02 a.m. Monday, July 3, 2017, at Medicalodges of Frontenac. Mrs. Cooper was born June 7, 1931, at Kirksville, Mo., the daughter of Hugh D. and Gladys Christelle Greenstreet Upton.
She was a retired post mistress who had worked in Iantha, Sheldon, and Mindenmines, Mo. She was raised in Sheldon, and graduated from Sheldon High School. She lived in Sheldon prior to moving to Pittsburg in 1982.
She enjoyed singing on Fridays at the nursing home. She was a member of the Postal Union.
Survivors include two daughters, Terry Elrod and her husband, Doug, of Pittsburg, and Billie Platner and her husband, Shawn, of Webb City, Mo.; a son, Jim Cooper and his wife, Teresa, of Lamar, Mo.; a sister, Carol Lewallen, of Bartlesville, Okla.; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Mike Upton.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, at the Sheldon Cemetery, with J.T. Knoli giving the eulogy. The family will receive friends from 10:30 to 11 a.m. Friday at the cemetery prior to the services.
