Nancy Jo Wiebe, Joplin, MO, entered into eternal rest on August 11, 2017, surrounded by family and friends at Mercy Hospital, Joplin, following complications from heart surgery.
Nancy was born on March 27, 1945, in Amarillo Texas to RD and Ina Box. She graduated from High School in Seward Alaska. She married John L Wiebe in Fort Richardson Alaska on October 19, 1965. They became the parents of five children.
Nancy worked for the US Postal Service hiring in as a clerk in Garland Texas and transferring to the Joplin Post Office in 1987 from where she retired in 1996.
Survivors in addition to her husband are two sons, Garth Wiebe, Allen TX and John Conrad Wiebe, Meridian, MS. One daughter, Kathryn Williams, Seneca, MO. A son, Daniel Wiebe, preceded her in death on May, 28, 2000 as a result of cancer. Her son, Leroy Wiebe, died the day following Nancy on August 12, 2017, from injuries he sustained in a car accident.
Nancy is also survived by six grandchildren and six great grand children.
Additional survivors include three brothers, David Box, Hot Springs, AR, Steven Box, Sierra Vista, AZ, and Henry Box, Amarillo, TX. Five sisters, Alice Estes, Tucson, AZ, Amy Willhitte, Bisbee, AZ, Brenda Snyder, Cheyenne, WY, Jewell Thomas, Prairie Grove, AR and Ruth Musser, Neosho, MO. Preceding her in death were two brothers, Richard Box and George Box.
A joint memorial service was held for Nancy and her son Leroy at Warrens Branch Baptist Church on Saturday, August 12th. The bodies have been taken for cremation and a burial will be planned for Swars Prairie Baptist Cemetery, Seneca, MO, at a later date.
