Nicholas P. Crim, age 58, passed away at his home in Teteringen, Netherlands, on July 17, 2017.
He was born on February 20, 1959, in Chickasha, Okla., to the late Carol Howell and Richard L. Crim. He was a 1977 graduate of Memorial High School, in Joplin, Mo. He was a member of the Memorial High School golf team and a member of the Horton Smith boy's and men's golf teams for several years representing Joplin.
For the past 18 years he worked in the Netherlands as a golf instructor and coach at Hoenderdaal Health Center. Golf was his passion and he loved teaching his students at Hoenderdaal and made the game fun. He started the Crim Golf Foundation, with a top golf youth program, and went all over Europe with the kids. Many kids who are on tour now, came from his golf school.
Nick married his wife, Lisette van Gurp, on July 7, 2001. She survives.
He is also survived by his son, Nathaniel Crim, Springfield, Mo.; stepson, Niels Haagberg, Breda, Netherlands; father, Richard L. Crim and wife, Marge, Joplin; stepfather, Warren Howell, Joplin; sister, Barbara Swanson and husband, Brett, Lenexa, Kan.; brother, Bob Crim, Leavenworth, Kan.; sister-in-law, Marijke Grootveld-van Gurp, Netherlands; brother-in-law, Peter van Gurp, Netherlands; stepbrother, Frank Howell and wife, Cindy, Carl Junction; stepbrother, Harvey Stein and wife, Sharol, Joplin; stepsister, Sheryl Howell, Joplin; stepsister, Cindy Shep and husband, Michael, Tellico Village, Tenn.; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Nick was preceded in death by two stepbrothers, Danny Howell and Bob Stein.
Family, friends and others, whose lives Nick touched, are invited to the chapel of Thornhill-Dillon Mortuary, in Joplin, on Saturday, September 9, at 11 a.m. for a celebration of his life.
