Robert Allen Johnson Sr., age 83, of Neck City, Mo., passed away on Sunday, March 26, 2017, at the Missouri Veterans' Home, in Mount Vernon. He was born on April 25, 1933, in Sacramento, Calif., to Sidney L. Johnson and Winifred P. (Lawrence) Johnson.
Robert was a conductor on the railroad for over 40 years, and a United States Marine Corps veteran, having served in the Korean War, where he received a purple heart. He was an avid fisherman when he was able to, fishing at every chance he could get.
Robert is survived by his wife, Betty Johnson, of Neck City; daughter, Cosetta Cox, of Purcell; sons, Robert Allen Johnson Jr. of Arkansas, Gary Johnson, of California; stepdaughter, Cheryl Ann Fiorio, of Joplin; brother, David Chuculate, of Salem, Ore.; a sister, Sharon York, of Sparks, Nev.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
The family will have a memorial reception on Thursday, April 13, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Webb City (Mo.) VFW Hall.
Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City.
