Ronald G. Swinehart, 89, a World War II U.S. Navy veteran and observer at the Bikini Atol test site, a model airplane and ham radio operator enthusiast, and more importantly, a loving husband and father peacefully passed away in his home April 30, 2017. He is survived by his wife, LaVerna DeRose Swinehart, along with his five children: Linda Clark, Ronald Swinehart Jr., Alan Swinehart, Patricia Patton, and Rebecca Boyd. He is also survived by six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His family thanks Avalon Hospice of Joplin for their exceptional care from their Hospice for Heroes Veterans Program, as well as the many supportive friends that have contributed their time and compassion. In the coming days, the family will hold a private ceremony based on Ronald's wishes and asks that in lieu of flowers donations be made to Avalon Hospice of Joplin at 2024 Maiden Lane, Suite 202, Joplin, MO 64804.
