Willis D. Cantrell, age 87, of Joplin, Mo., passed away at his home on Wednesday, April 5, 2017. He was born on January 5, 1930, in Olmitz, Kan., to Edgar D. Cantrell and Jettie (Baker) Cantrell.
Willis was a member of the First Baptist Church, of Webb City, Mo., and retired from KPL Gas Company, where he was a service man.
He married Geraldine (Hadley) Cantrell on December 16, 1955, in Joplin, and she survives him at home.
Willis is also survived by his sons, David Cantrell, of Boise, Idaho, Matthew Cantrell, of Pierce City, Mo.; daughters, Sherri Collier and husband, Jerry, of Belton, Mo., Dottie Rhodes and husband, Wesley, of Joplin; 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Norma Hopper, of Granby, Mo. He was preceded in death by six brothers.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 11, at 1 p.m. in the chapel of Simpson Funeral Home, in Webb City, with Rev. Ron Woody officiating. The family will be present for a visitation on Monday, from 6 to 7p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery.
