Columbus, KS - Columbus, KS: Bettie L. (Dorsey) Pillar, age 92 of rural Columbus, KS, stepped into the arms of her Lord and Savior at 9:10 PM on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Bettie was born on October 21, 1932 in Yale, KS. She graduated from Pittsburg High School, and was a lifetime resident of the Columbus area. As the daughter of a minister, she always placed a high priority on church attendance. Most recently, she was a member of Mount Olive C.O.G.I.C, and also commonly attended Riverton House of Prayer. She worked diligently as a homemaker, and thoroughly enjoyed gardening, especially her flowers.

She was united in marriage with James H.D. Pillar on July 29, 1952 in Fayetteville, AR. He preceded her in death on July 3, 1997. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Beatrice Dorsey; three brothers; and six sisters.

Survivors include three sons, Harold W. Pillar (wife, Margaret) of Columbus, Ronald "Bub" Pillar (wife, Terri) of Columbus, and David M. Pillar (wife, Anita) of Columbus; one daughter, Coleta J. Pillar of Pittsburg, KS; five grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, August 30, 2025 at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Elder Troy Webb and Pastor Audie Tash will officiate. Pallbearers serving will be Wraine Meadows, Justin Pillar, James Sanders, Bill Jones, Tim Crain, and Marshawn Shelby, with Edward Blurton, William Dancer, and Lymon Crain serving as honorary pallbearers. Burial will follow at the Baxter Springs Cemetery.
