Billie Anne Rogers
Billie Anne (Bigbee) Rogers, 84, of Evansville, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 27, 2019, at her home.
Billie was born in Joplin, Missouri, on September 11, 1935, to the late Leslie and Gertrude (Burns) Bigbee. She was a 1953 graduate of Joplin High School.
Billie married Rev. William T. Rogers, Sr. on September 23, 1955. She was Pastor's wife of 38 years in Ft. Wayne, Kokomo, Columbia City, Mt. Vernon, and the First Pentecostal Church of God, 212 Mill St., Boonville, IN 47601. Billie was saved by grace at the age of 9 in 1944 at the First Full Gospel Workers Church in Joplin, Missouri, under the pastorship of the Rev. Dow Booe. Sis. Rogers played the mandolin, guitar, accordion, piano and organ. Billie loved the Lord with all her heart and used her musical talent for the Glory of God always! A song much requested in services and youth rallies was her rendition of the "Gospel Boogie". Billie enjoyed puzzles, painting ceramic houses, and board games of which Acquire was her favorite.
Billie is survived by her nine children, William Theodore Rogers, Jr., Tasha Anne Hayden (Tracy), John Leslie "J.R." Rogers, Robin Gail Fetscher (Steve), Paul Virgil Rogers, Karen Sue Rogers, Thomas Eugene Rogers (Lori), Michael Roy Rogers (Jennifer), all of Evansville, IN, and Steven Ray Rogers (Alison), of Clarksville, TN; 18 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.
Billie was preceded in death by her husband of 38 years, Rev. William T. Rogers, Sr. in 1994; by nine siblings, Ruth Victoria Vader, Everett Clay Bigbee, Leona Juanita Cooper, Delores "Dee" Marie Sutch, Leslie James "Les" Bigbee, Jr., Donnie Jean Wieland, Elmer James "Brownie" Bigbee, Beulah Mae Lehman, and Esther Eugenia "Jane" Cooper-Morgan; daughter-in-law, Delores Jean Rogers; one granddaughter; and by two great-grandchildren.
A celebration of Billie's life was held at Browning Funeral Home in Evansville, IN. Burial was held at Oak Hill Cemetery.
