Cary Ward Hayward

Cary Ward Hayward, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2025, in his hometown of Joplin, Missouri, at the age of 73. He was born on August 13, 1951, to the late Dee and Margie (Martin) Hayward.
Professionally, Cary was the respected owner of Hayward Construction, where his skill as a contractor and his strong work ethic earned him the admiration of his peers and the community.
An avid bass fisherman, Cary found solace and excitement in the waters of Missouri's lakes and rivers. His passion for tournament fishing and hunting was more than a hobby; it was a reflection of his love for the outdoors. The stories of his adventures will be retold and cherished by his family and friends.
He is survived by his beloved wife Patti (Hartley) Hayward; children, Carrie Jean Hayward and Clinton Hayward (Emily), further blessing Cary with the joy of being a grandfather to Madison Hayward. He is also survived by his brother, Jim Hayward (Sue), and uncle, Russell Martin (Kate), his long-time fishing buddy, Tommy Junkins, along with a host of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly. Cary was preceded in death by his parents and his grandfather, Orville Hayward.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Faith Life Worship Center in Carthage, MO. Burial to follow at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Webb City, MO. The family invites friends out for a time of visitation prior to the service at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Faith Life Worship Center in Carthage, MO.
Arrangements are under the direct care of Parker Mortuary, Joplin, MO.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
