Cheryl Darlene Scantlin
Cheryl Darlene (Marlow) Scantlin, age 71 of Commerce, passed away at Quaker Hill Manor in Baxter Springs, Kan., at 8:18 p.m. on December 20, 2018.
Cheryl was born on August 14, 1947 at Weeks Clinic in Commerce, Okle., to the union of Harvey Herman Marlow and Mary Emmalene (Oxley) Marlow. She graduated from Commerce High School with the class of 1965. She was a lifetime resident of Commerce.
For many years she worked at Lee's/Mapes' Insurance in Commerce. She then spent a few years working for the Miami Chamber of Commerce. Her last place of employment was serving as a secretary in the superintendent's office of Commerce Public Schools. She was a member of First Christian Church in Commerce for many years, later becoming a member of First Christian Church in Miami. She enjoyed cooking, watching her favorite TV shows, keeping up with her grandchildren and listening to music. She especially loved to listen to her favorite singer, Barry Manilow, and would often sing along, knowing the words of almost every song. She enjoyed spending time with her cousin, Sandy Womeldorff, who was more like a sister to her than a cousin.
She was united in marriage with Walter Glenn Scantlin, Jr. on July 10, 1970 in Commerce, Okla. He preceded her in death on July 20, 2006.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, Harvey and Emmalene; and one sister, Sherry Lynn Marlow.
Survivors include one son, Roger Scantlin (wife, Lori) of Riverton, Kan.; one daughter, Becky Rogers (husband, Dusty) of Brandon, Fla.; one brother, Herman Marlow (wife, Donna) of Las Vegas; and two granddaughters, Samantha and Emma Scantlin of Riverton, Kan.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday December 27, 2018 at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami, Okla. Burial will be at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami, Okla.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at the funeral home.
