Dallas Fredrick Corky Reynolds

JOPLIN, Mo. - Dallas Fredrick "Corky" Reynolds, age 83, passed away at 9:56 a.m., Friday, June 8, 2018, at Freeman West Hospital, Joplin, following an illness.
Corky was born June 18, 1934, in Elgin, Kan. His parents were Robert Harold and Leona Floriene (Crum) Reynolds. He graduated from the Sedan (Kan.) High School. He later earned a Master's Degree in Science from Pitt State, Pittsburg, Kan.
As an elementary school teacher, he taught in several schools, including Elgin, Chautauqua, Peru, Sedan and Galena, before teaching at Columbus Kan. He retired as a 6th grade teacher after 27 years of service.
Dallas was a veteran of the U S Air Force. He had also been a member of the 4-H Club and was a member of Phi Beta Cappa. He had been listed it the 2nd edition of "Who's Who Among American Teachers" in 1992, and was also recognized as an outstanding young educator by the Sedan Chamber of Commerce.
He is survived by one sister, Beverly Reynolds, Joplin, and by some close friends, including Randy Brown, Linda Snell, and Joe Mayfield. His parents and one brother, Larry Reynolds, preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Thursday, June 14, at Derfelt Funeral Home, Columbus. He will then be transported to Elgin for a brief service at the Methodist Church, Elgin, before burial at Boulinger Cemetery, in Elgin.

Plant a tree: How does it work

When your purchase is complete, a post will be made on the tribute wall of the deceased signifying the planting of a memorial tree.

An official certificate recognizing your purchase will be included with your email receipt. You can then forward the email to the family or print it and give it to them personally.

After an order is placed, our forestry partners will plant the tree in the area of greatest need (nearest the funeral home), according to the planting schedule for the year.

Due to seasonal conditions, the tree planting takes place during the spring and summer.

January - May

Planting will take place in Spring or Summer of the same year.

June - December

Planting will take place in Spring of the following year.
