Centennial, CO - Daniel W. Shewmake, age 85, of Centennial Colorado, passed away on April 19th 2025.
Daniel, most referred to as Bampa by his family, was born on October 15th, 1939 in Joplin, Missouri to Ernest Loyd Shewmake and Hessie Jewell Fox. He grew up in Wheaton, MO and attended Rocky Comfort High School, Harding University and finished his Bachelors and Masters Degree in Geology at University of Arkansas in 1963. Daniel went on to work as a geologist in the oil business for 51 years.
Daniel was married to his high school sweetheart, Janice Kenney (now known as Bama) on March 14th 1959. He was known for his warmth, his sense of humor and his unwavering love and dedication to his family. He was a lifelong St Louis Cardinal and Arkansas Razorback Fan and he played a mean game of Rook.
He is survived by his wife, Janice, his children Scott, Kendell, Jeff and Jennifer as well as his grandchildren Chris, Danielle, Cruz, Sophie, his step-grandchildren Keaton, Maia. Daniel was proudly a great-grandfather to Sloan, and was thrilled to know two more great grandchildren are on the way. He was also survived by two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hessie, and his brother Richard.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday May 10th at 11am, at Clarks Funeral Home in Neosho, Missouri with a graveside committal service to follow at Owsley Union Cemetery in Longview. All who knew and loved Daniel are welcome to attend.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to St Jude Children's Research Hospital, in Daniel's memory.
