Joplin, Missouri - Dorothy M. Heady
Dorothy M. Heady, 92, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, in Joplin, Missouri. Dorothy was born February 21, 1931, in Nevada, Missouri, to Edward Reeves and Maude Hyder. She lived in Carthage, Missouri, for a time when she was a young child, then moved to Parsons, Kansas, for a while. Dorothy then moved back to Carthage where she lived most of her adult life. She was a homemaker, housekeeper, and the bookkeeper for Cameron Construction. Dorothy enjoyed crocheting and was a flea market enthusiast.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Harold Heady for twenty-two years; he preceded her in death in 2003. Later, she and her life partner, Jack Cameron, were together for forty plus years; he preceded her in death in 2015.
Dorothy is survived by two sons, Leon Heady (Linda) and Bob Heady (Elizabeth), both of Parsons, Kansas; two daughters, Jean Nash (Harold) of Altamont, Kansas, and Brenda Manley (Bruce) of Joplin, Missouri; a sister, Etta Runyan of Joplin, Missouri; twenty grandchildren; and numerous great and great great grandchildren.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her husband, Harold Heady; life partner, Jack Cameron; son, Clifford Heady; daughter, Diana Hill; and her parents, Edward and Maude Reeves.
A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2024, at Park Cemetery in Carthage, Missouri. Prior to her graveside service a visitation will be held at 9:00 a.m. at Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage.
