Douglas Harold Sageser, age 67, of Sarcoxie, Mo., passed away suddenly on Thursday, Aug. 16, 2018, at his home. Douglas entered this life on March 29, 1951, in Joplin, Mo., to the union of Harold and Louise (Latimer) Sageser. He was a graduate of Sarcoxie High School. On July 30, 1982, he was united in marriage to Carol Willis, sharing thirty-six years. Douglas retired from Atlas Powder, ICI explosives in Joplin. He served in the National Guard, Pierce City, Mo., for several years and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Sarcoxie. Douglas enjoyed fishing, hunting, guns, and gardening, as well as spending time with family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Sageser. Douglas is survived by his wife, Carol, of the home; children, Brian Dapkiewicz (Sherrie), of Topeka, Kan., Heather Collard (Justin), of Oronogo, Mo., and Travis Sageser (Kristin), of Sarcoxie; 10 grandchildren; mother, Louise (Lou) Sageser, of Sarcoxie; sisters, Trudie Holland of Freistatt, Mo., and Terrie Burris (Tom) of Monett, Mo.; several nieces and nephews; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law; his little dog, Cheyenne; as well as a host of other family and friends. Graveside funeral services for Mr. Sageser will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Cave Springs Cemetery, Sarcoxie, with Reverend Wil Meyer officiating. Visitation will be Monday evening at the funeral home from 6 to 8 p.m. Those honoring his life by serving as pallbearers are Mike Chandler, Chris Feather, Bruce Lambeth, Dave Patton, Grant Tollefson, and Sam Huckaby. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Housh-Goodwin Funeral Home in Sarcoxie.
