Eleanor Mae Moncrief (Eleanor) Obituary

Lowell, KS - It is with deep sorrow and love that we announce Eleanor Mae Moncrief went to be with Jesus on November 22, 2025, after a hard-fought battle with dementia. She was at her Wildwood "Garden Home" at the time of her passing. Eleanor was 90 years young.

Eleanor was born December 18, 1934, in Ottawa County, Oklahoma, on the little Five Mile Creek farm her parents, Jesse and Vergie Fry, inhabited. She was one of seven children: Jack, Bob, Jess, Barbara, Fred, and Linda. Eleanor attended Assembly of God Church in Peoria, Oklahoma, where she accepted Christ as a little girl.

Eleanor was united to the love of her life, Edwin Stanton Moncrief, on July 14, 1989, in Lake Tahoe, Nevada. They loved working side by side at Moncrief's Wholesale Greenhouse in Lowell, Kansas. Together they expanded the greenhouse to include retail sales. This brought people from all over the area. Eleanor loved helping others realize they could also grow beautiful flowers and vegetables.

Eleanor spent her whole life taking care of others. She loved family and having EVERYONE, including friends and family, together for any reason. She had a gift for making others feel welcome in her home. Her family never worried about meals, clean clothes, or an attentive ear because she was always there for them which included her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Eleanor was previously married to John O. Delmont Jr. which produced four children. She is survived by: son, Johnny L. Delmont; daughter, Jeania French (Mark); son, Scott Delmont (Elayne); daughter, Stacy Hogg (Tony); and stepson, Bob Moncrief (Ginny).

Arrangements are under the direction of Derfelt Funeral Home of Baxter Springs, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, November 28, 2025, from 6-8 pm at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel. A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 29, 2025, at Grace Community Church of Riverton, Kansas, with an ice cream social to follow. Private family burial will be at Lowell Cemetery.
