Joplin, MO - Gerald John Munster, age 79, of Joplin, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2026 at his home.

Gerald was born on November 18, 1946 in St. Louis, MO to the union of Ralph and Margaret (Wilken) Munster. He worked as a coal power plant operator and supervisor for Union Electric Company, later known as Ameren. Gerald married the love of his life, Martha Kay Porter on August 16, 1969 in St. Louis, MO. Together they were blessed with 44 years before her passing on September 18, 2013. He enjoyed working with his hands, creating beautiful woodworking pieces that Martha would paint. He spent countless hours on the golf course, bowling, and going on hikes with his son, Mike.

In addition to his parents and wife, Gerald was preceded in death by a sister, Marilyn Kardell.

Gerald is survived by his son, Mike Munster; four siblings, Nettie Magill (Harry), Linda Ridall, Jeanne Keutzer (Don), and Tom Munster (Sharon); and a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

A private burial will be held at a later date.
