Henry William Martin, age 85, of Grove, OK, passed away at home on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2019.

Henry was born on August 3, 1933, in Jay, OK, to the late Alton Martin and Velma Martin. He grew up as the eldest of four and graduated from high school in Santa Ana, CA, in 1951. He then joined the United States Navy on August 30, 1951, achieved the rank of Second Class Petty Officer and served in the Korean War.

During his service he met and married Mary L. Bickert on June 8, 1956. Together they had four children.

After leaving the Navy and getting married, Henry went to work as a desk manager and bowling instructor in San Francisco, CA, to senior correctional officer in Alcatraz, CA, Lewisburg. PA, and Terminal Island in Longbeach, CA. Next he worked at the "L.A. Times" as a print setter in California, then was a pig farmer in Sweet, ID, to owning a vacuum and sewing machine business in Garden Grove, CA, then owning a blood culture business in Orange, CA, and last he joined the Post Office as a mail carrier in Carrollton, TX, and moved to the branch as a clerk in Joplin, MO. When Henry retired he was living in Grove, OK.

He is survived by four children: Catherine Wilson and husband, Douglas, of Mira Loma, CA, Richard Martin and wife, Karen, of Hatton, ND, Heidi Lansdowne and husband, Phil, of Argyle, TX, and Laurie McAreavey, of Las Vegas, NV. Five grandchildren: Thomas Stevens, Jeremy Martin, Justin Lansdowne, Jacquelyn Lansdowne, Gannon McAreavey; three great-grandchildren; siblings: Harvey Martin, of Emmett, ID, Darlene Leush, of Emmett, and Harlan Martin, of Grove.

The family will greet friends and family from 5-7 p.m. on March 28, at the Worley-Luginbuel Funeral Home, Grove. Cremation burial will be March 29, Olympus North Cemetery at 3 p.m.
