Lowell, KS: James M. Carver, age 69, of Lowell, KS, passed away at his home at 10:00 AM on Monday, July 15, 2024, following an illness.
James was born on January 28, 1955, to the union of Loran Francis Carver and Idella Clarice (Moreland) Carver. He was a lifelong resident of the four-state area. He loved motorcycles, family time with his kids and grandkids, and cooking and barbecuing. He was a member of Abate of Kansas District 3, and worked as a leadman at Bayliner for over 10 years, and also as a service tech at 15th Street Walmart in Joplin, where he retired in 2019.
He was united in marriage with Gillie A. Carver in Miami, OK, on June 22, 1990. She survives of the home.
Additional survivors include one son, Devin Carver (wife, Shawna) of Lowell; one daughter, Hailey Carver (fiancé, Ryan Tillman) of Baxter Springs, KS; six sisters, Lucy "Penny", Sheila, Gloria, Linda, Velvet, and Diana; two brothers, Robert and Scott; five grandchildren, Braylen, Maddox, AnaKat, Odin, and Lexi; as well as countless nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Loran Carver and Idella Baldwin; his step-mother, Sue Carver; his maternal grandmother who raised him, Thelma Moreland; and one brother, Jim Carver.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Friday, July 19, 2024, at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena. Pastor Matt Derfelt will officiate. Burial will follow at Ozark Memorial Park Cemetery in Joplin, MO. Pallbearers serving will be Ryan Tillman, Brian Brester, Devin Carver, Dutch VanAuker, Michael Baldwin, and Matt Derfelt.
Visitation will take place from 6-7 PM on Thursday, July 18, 2024, at Derfelt Funeral Home of Galena.
