Janet Gayle Long, age 82, of Marionville, Missouri, formerly of Mt. Vernon, Missouri, passed away at 10:00 p.m. on Friday, November 11, 2016, at the Ozark Methodist Manor in Marionville. She was born July 29, 1934, in Mt. Vernon, the only child of Willard and Opal Hazel (Dunham) Mosher.

Janet was a 1952 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School. She was the Director of the YWCA and a very active member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Mt. Vernon. She was a member of the Mt. Vernon PEO and Extension Club, was on the district council of Boy Scouts and past president of Soroptimist Womens Organization.

On November 15, 1952, she married Robert Eugene Long, in Mt. Vernon.

She is survived by her husband of 64 years, Bob, of the home; two sons, Randy Long and his wife, Cindy, of Austin, Texas and Scot Long and his wife, Mary, of McCune, Kansas; four grandchildren, Brice Long and his wife, Jennifer, Kylie Thomas and her husband, John, Kandra Smith and her husband, Lance, and Taylor Long and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Opal and one grandson, Dennis Brian Long.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon, with visitation from 10:00-10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, prior to the service. Burial will be held at the Summit Cemetery at a later date.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimers Association in care of the funeral home.
