Mary C. Crane Obituary

Mary C. Crane, 88, a resident of the Parsons Presbyterian Manor, died there at 2:25 a.m., Wednesday, June 29, 2016, following a lengthy period of failing health.

She was born Aug. 6, 1929, at Stark City, Mo., to Alex C. and Wanda (Thompson) Marion. She grew up and attended schools there.

On Feb. 2, 1946, she and Oren W. Crane were married in Joplin. They lived in Joplin and in Carthage, in Missouri, and Albuquerque and Las Cruces, in New Mexico, Rockdale and El Paso, in Texas, and Kevil, Ky., before moving to Parsons in 1954. Oren founded the Crane Sheet Metal Co., in Parsons in 1954, and owned Rainey Roofing & Sheet Metal, in Joplin. He preceded her in death on Nov. 27, 1992.

Mary was active as a homemaker and a member of the Wesley United Methodist Church, in Parsons. She also had been a member of the Ruskin Club and the P.E.O. Sisterhood.

She is survived by two sons, Jack D. Crane, of Houston, Texas, and Jeff J. Crane, of Joplin; a daughter, Lynn C. Crane, of Kansas City, Mo.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; a brother, Dale Marion, of Neosho, Mo., and a sister, Sharon Miller, of Pierce City, Mo. Two sisters, Carol Curtis and Patty Sue House, preceded her in death.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m., Tuesday, at the Memorial Lawn Cemetery Patio, with Rev. Margaret Johnson officiating. Friends may call at the Carson-Wall Funeral Home at their convenience on Monday, from 1 to 6 p.m.

Memorials are suggested to either the Wesley United Methodist Church or the Stella Wells Christmas Basket Fund. They may be left at, or sent to, the funeral home at Box 942, Parsons, KS 67357.
