Norma Kimbrough Obituary

Norma Kimbrough, 88, of Miami, Okla., went home to be with the Lord on Friday, November 25, 2016.

Norma was born January 3, 1928, in Joplin, Mo., to Floyd and Alice (Cavener) Steele. She graduated from Baxter Springs High School in 1946.

She met and married the boy of her dreams, Jim Kimbrough, of Baxter Springs on June 1, 1947. They were married for 64 years prior to Jim's passing in 2012. Jim and Norma owned and operated the College Grocery. Norma worked at Osborn Rexall Drug for over 30 years.

She was a charter member of Northwest Baptist Church where she served as Director of the Nursery for several years. She was a member of the Miami chapter of the Business Professional Women (BPW).

Norma was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She lived her life in an exemplary fashion as a humble servant of her Lord and Savior, Jesus the Christ.

Norma is survived by her four children, Jim (Jan) Kimbrough, of Joplin, Don Kimbrough, Owasso, Okla., Kim (Dee) Renshaw, Okmulgee, Okla., and Rob (Melanie) Kimbrough, Miami; 11 granddaughters, Jennifer Coulter, Fayetteville, Ark., Julie Smith, Miami, Jill Kimbrough, Dallas, Texas, Emily (Matt) Condry, Broken Arrow, Okla., Ann (Luke) Higgins, Houston, Texas, Lauren (Mike) Meacham, Dickinson, N.D., Beth Renshaw, Muskogee, Okla., Taylor (Zachary) Mitzner, Edmond, Okla., Sarah (Danny)Wolf, Joplin, Katie Kimbrough, Chicago, Ill., Allison Kimbrough, Fayetteville, and 18 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Floyd (Gerri) Steele, Joplin, Don (Nancy) Steele, Joplin. Norma is preceded in death by her parents, Floyd and Alice Steele, and a brother, Bob Steele.

The family will receive friends at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 29, at Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service, in Miami. A celebration of her life will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, November 30, at First Baptist Church, Miami, with Reverend Rick Longcrier officiating. Burial will follow in the Grand Army of the Republic Cemetery, in Miami, under the care of Brown-Winters Funeral Home and Cremation Service, of Miami.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Children's Ministry at First Baptist Church, Miami.
