Joplin, MO - Paul Matthew Hooker, 57, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away on July 1, 2026.

Born to Robert A. Hooker and Phyllis J. Hooker in Oakley, Kansas, Paul was preceded in death by both of his parents, whom he loved deeply.

Paul is survived by his wife, N. LeAnne Hooker of Joplin, Missouri; his sons, Matthew R. Hooker of Joplin, Missouri and Jacob Q. Hooker of Overland Park, Kansas; and his brothers, Robert D. Hooker (Taronda) of Hutchinson, Kansas and Breck Hooker of Hays, Kansas.

A master carpenter by trade, Paul built far more than structures — he built trust, friendship, and a reputation for craftsmanship that spoke for itself. His hands shaped many things with precision, but his life shaped the people around him with generosity and grit.

Music was woven into Paul's life from an early age. An accomplished drummer, he played for several bands throughout his lifetime, bringing rhythm, energy, and heart to every stage he stepped onto.

Paul was also an avid motorcyclist, finding freedom on the open road and community among fellow riders. Most recently, he became a patched member of B.A.C.A. (Bikers Against Child Abuse), where he served on the state board as secretary. In this role, Paul was a trusted leader, a steady voice, and a valued member of an organization dedicated to protecting children—work he took on with unwavering commitment.

Paul will be remembered for his loyalty, his humor, his craftsmanship, his music, and his fierce devotion to the people he loved. His greatest joy was his family, who were the center of his world and the source of his deepest happiness. His presence was strong, his heart was steady, and his impact will continue to echo in the lives he touched.

Paul will be laid to rest at Osborne Cemetery, west side of 33rd and McClelland, Joplin, Missouri, on Monday, July 20th, 2026, at 10:30 am.
