Ray H. Moody Sr.
Ray Homer Moody Sr., age 88, Joplin, MO, passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2019, at Spring River Christian Village after a battle with cancer.
Ray was born July 6, 1930, in Miller, MO, son of the late Cyrus Homer Moody and Stella Long Moody. He graduated from Miller High School, and then served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, where he received several medals, citations, and a Purple Heart.
He returned to California where he lived for a few years before returning to Missouri, where he worked in television repair in Carthage, Golden City and then Marionville. In Marionville he was owner and operator of Ray's Furniture and Appliance. He moved to Joplin and owned TV Service Center located at 21st and Main, which he operated for over 28 years before retiring.
He was a member of the Faith Assembly of God Church, Masonic Lodge #345 F&AM, and the Shriners, where he was a past Master. He was also a lifetime member of the American Legion Post #13, and local VFW #534.
In addition to his parents, Ray was preceded in death by two sons, John Moody and Ray H. Moody Jr.
Survivors include his wife of over 26 years, Donna L. Moody; son, Billy Joe Coleman; daughter, Susie Campbell; stepchildren, Robert Sanders, of Granby, MO, and Sharon Hatfield (Tim), of Rocky Comfort, MO; grandchildren, Jamie Rae (Derek),Joe Hatfield (Carrie), Chelsey Mittag (Levi); great-grandchildren, Alyssa, Riley, Erika, Dillon, Paige, and Aliyah; sister, Betty Myers, of Greenfield, MO.
Funeral services will be Wednesday, May 29, at 2 p.m. in Parker Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Grant Curtis officiating. Interment will follow at Stone Cemetery, with full military honors. The family will receive friends at Parker Mortuary on Wednesday from 1 p.m. until service time.
