Joplin, Missouri - Susan Marie Kappler, age 59, of Joplin, Missouri, passed away at 1:39 p.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2021, at her home. She was born March 6, 1962, in Joplin, Missouri, the daughter of Emery Ellis and Ruth Maxine (Stokes) Blevins.

Susan was a1980 graduate of Miller High School in Miller, Missouri, and graduated from Cox School of Nursing in Springfield, Missouri. She was a registered nurse for Mercy Hospital in Carthage, Missouri, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Miller, Missouri.

Susan is survived by her mother, Ruth Blevins, of Mt. Vernon, Missouri; one son, Jesse Kappler and Michelle Rice and their daughter, Saige Kappler of Grove, Oklahoma; one sister, Becky Tyler and her husband, Jim, of Joplin; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Susan was preceded in death by her father, Emery, and one brother, Stephen Blevins.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 19, 2021, at the Fossett-Mosher Funeral Home, in Mt. Vernon, with burial to follow at the Mt. Vernon City Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in the funeral home chapel.
