Tracy G. Smith
Tracy Grant Smith, 59, was born July 27, 1960, in Joplin, MO, and he died October 1, 2019 in Joplin. He passed away at home. He was a lifelong resident of Joplin and graduated from Parkwood High School.
Tracy was trained as an electrician. He worked for the Missouri State Highway Department, a number of electrical service companies, and recently started his own business. Hunting and fishing were his great joys and passion and he spent years as a professional guide. His hunting dogs were a source of joy.
As a young boy, Tracy was a talented baseball player, and he carried this love all his life and shared it with his father and his brothers. He was a proud member of the National Rifle Association and, at the time of his death, he was gathering documentation to support his application to the Sons of the American Revolution.
Tracy was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd Jay Smith and Peggy Lee (White) Smith.
He is survived by his loving partner, Meredith Yenzer; brothers, Dallas (wife Lisa) Rhodes, of Santa Fe, NM, and Ricky Lee (wife Susan) Rhodes, who reside in Punta Gorda, FL; numerous other members of his extended family, and uncounted friends.
A Celebration of Life for Tracy will take place at The Butcher Block, in Joplin, on Monday, October 7, from 6-8 p.m. Tom Perry will officiate.
In honor of Tracy's life, charitable contributions may be made to the Joplin Humane Society.
